Why Should I Choose Pre-Athletic Training?

Elmira College’s Pre-Athletic Training minor is great preparation for allied health professions, and can be utilized by anyone with an interest in health and wellness. Courses in exercise physiology, kinesiology and movement of the human body, nutrition, and care and prevention of athletic injuries will give you practice using problem-solving skills to be ready for practical and clinical applications. You will be able to complete the required 50 internship hours working directly with athletic trainers and our Elmira College athletics teams.


What Will I Learn Through Pre-Athletic Training?

Within our Pre-Athletic Training program, you will examine an overview of the sciences as well as an in-depth look into health and wellness. There is a special focus on musculoskeletal medicine, exercise, and nutrition.

What Can I Do With A Pre-Athletic Training Minor?

You will be prepared with skills needed for athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, physician, chiropractor, massage therapist, and other professions that rely on health and wellness information and practical skills. The US Department of Labor is estimating at least 20% growth in the Athletic Training field through 2030, so there will be many diverse employment opportunities for you to pursue following your graduate training.
